Frequently Asked Questions

  • When your nervous system is regulated, you can:

    • think more clearly

    • feel calmer and more grounded

    • process emotions more easily

    • make better decisions

Instead of reacting from stress, you respond from presence and clarity.

  • Your nervous system is the communication network between your brain and body.

It constantly scans your environment and decides whether you are safe or under threat, then adjusts your heart rate, breathing, muscles, and emotions accordingly.

  • Somatic movement is simply movement that brings your attention to the sensations of your body.

Instead of exercising for performance, you move slowly and consciously so your body can release tension, process emotions, and return to balance.

  • These are two ways your body senses itself.

Proprioception: Your awareness of where your body is in space. (It helps you feel your posture, balance, and movement.)

Interoception: Your awareness of what is happening inside your body. (It helps you notice things like your breath, heartbeat, and emotions.)

Together, these senses help you reconnect with your body and regulate your nervous system.

A closer look at the science behind the RESET:

Your Spine & Nervous System

The “roll down and roll up” is a key somatic excercise because it directly activates your spinal cord and vagus nerve: your body’s main “rest and digest” highway.
Slow, conscious contraction and expansion of the spine acts like a pump, decompressing the vertebrae and improving flow of information between your brain and body.

This slow movement signals safety to the body and helps shift the system out of stress mode.

Releasing Tension

By briefly squeezing the shoulders and then letting them drop while folding forward, the body recognizes and releases stored tension.

This process strengthens “vagal tone”, signaling your nervous sytem to shift from a stressful “fight or flight” state to a state of calm.

Completion

The “melting”, deep bend in the knees allows gravity to assist in releasing tension.

The connection to the floor provides grounding, while the slow movement encourages you to exit your mind and get into the sensations of your body.

Rolling back up slowly allows the spine to restack and the breath to deepen.

This simple sequence encourages the nervous system to move from fight-or-flight into a calmer, more regulated state.
